Using Straw pellet for Poultry and Pets

Straw pellet under layer is an efficient and eco-friendly alternative to existing common known bedding and litter products. Less is needed for equivalent absorbancy, it saves you money, working time and storing place. Straw pellets are naturally softer than wood pellets and will break down more easily so less storage is required for soiled bedding. Straw pellet is a pure, natural product without any additives. Straw pellet is an excellent suckling material (approximately 300% self-weight). The product is hygienic, as the temperature is +75 ... +85 ° C in granulation process. Straw pellet is recommended as bedding material for horses and also other animals. Using a straw pellet litter is easier and faster to clean. Product is easy to recycle and can be reused in different ways. Composted material decomposes rapidly and may be used, such as fertilizer, even in 2-3 months.

Straw pellet is a unique material with a lot of different ways to use. It is also perfect for home heating as well as wood pellet.

Straw pellet has many advantages over straw or other bedding materials. Scientists from the University of Gottingen have studied different bedding materials in several horse farms during 17.05.2009…29.04.2010.  The aim was to evaluate the different bedding materials, their properties and ease of use. The following table shows the survey results at a glance:

Unfortunately, no comparative studies have been done with peat. The reason may be that it is no longer recommended in Germany to use peat as litter for two main reasons:

1. Drain the peat swamps for which the environment is an irreversible process and violates the balance of nature. In addition to 10 cm thick peat layer recovery will take 100 years!
2. Peat causes significant problems to your horse's hooves due to acidic pH.
